Upgrades on the midtier EX-L model include: Rear cross-traffic alert (warns you if a vehicle behind you is about to cross your vehicle's path while in reverse).Blind-spot monitoring (alerts you if a vehicle in the next lane over is in your blind spot).Adaptive cruise control (maintains a driver-set distance between the Honda and the car in front).Lane departure mitigation (warns you of a lane departure when a turn signal isn't used and can automatically steer to maintain lane position).Forward collision mitigation (warns you of an impending collision and applies the brakes in certain scenarios).Apple CarPlay and Android Auto compatibility.Rear-seat reminder system (reminds you to check the rear seats for occupants when you park the car). Now you can say "Stop touching your sister!" without having to turn your head around to shout it. A microphone picks up your voice and broadcasts it to the rear of the van via the speakers or through the rear entertainment system's headsets. The available cabin intercom also lets you bypass the low-level road noise. Honda deserves credit for its noise-reduction efforts, and the Odyssey is the quietest minivan in the segment by our measurements. But generally speaking, there aren't many bumps the Honda can't absorb with ease. Our Odyssey Elite's 19-inch wheels likely gave it a firmer ride than the smaller available wheel options (smaller wheels mean more absorbent tire sidewalls). Third-row legroom is limited, but two grown-ups can survive back there for shorter distances. The second-row seats are equally suited for kids or adults. The front seats are great for logging miles on extended drives. How comfortable is the Odyssey? The Odyssey is slightly ahead of its peers in yet another area. This was a 2018 Odyssey, but the 2023 model is part of the same generation, so most of our observations still apply. Our editors spent a year and 20,000 miles with a Honda Odyssey and learned everything that's great, and not so great, about Odyssey ownership. Check out our test team's Expert Rating below for our complete evaluation. But on the whole, we think the Odyssey is a great pick for a family hauler. Meanwhile, the Kia Carnival offers a compelling value and a longer warranty than the Odyssey. You can get them with all-wheel drive, too, which is something Honda doesn't offer. The Sienna and the Pacifica both offer a hybrid model, which greatly improves the fuel economy. There isn't much minivan competition these days, but those that remain include the Toyota Sienna, Chrysler Pacifica and the Kia Carnival. Then, right in the middle of the lineup, Honda has added a Sport trim with black exterior accents and distinctive interior upholstery. It costs more than the old LX but has more standard features as compensation. Honda did eliminate the LX trim, making the EX the new base trim. In Lincoln, Alabama, alongside the Pilot and Ridgeline. The 2023 Honda Odyssey is pretty much unchanged. The EX model hits the sweet spot at about $37,000, with an 8.0-inch touchscreen with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto compatibility, heated front seats, and more safety features and comfort goodies. The 2022 Odyssey starts above $33,000 in base LX trim, then climbs the ladder in features and cost in EX, EX-L, Touring, and top Elite trim at just under $50,000, including destination. How much does the 2022 Honda Odyssey cost? Rest assured, however, that even the skimpy base LX comes with top crash-test ratings and excellent safety features that include automatic emergency braking, active lane control, and adaptive cruise control. The Odyssey rides as quiet as a nap, and even though the 10-speed can be busy it’s unnoticeable until the driver demands enough power to wake the napper in back. The 3.5-liter V-6 powering the Odyssey is plenty capable, but it only comes with front-wheel drive and a 10-speed automatic transmission as its most fuel-efficient component. The Odyssey also features flexible seating arrangements for up to eight, and a removable second row of seats that opens up more cargo space than most three-row SUVs. The allure of the minivan lies inside, and Honda optimizes the space of the Odyssey even better than its other cars, with smart storage spaces in the doors, seat backs, consoles, side panels, and under the floor. Honda flushed out the front fascia of the Odyssey last year, and the standard LED headlights and stacked lower fog lights frame the wider grille in a more modern style.
